Psalm 127
A Pilgrim Song of Solomon
1-2 If God doesn't build the house, the builders only build shacks.
If God doesn't guard the city,
the night watchman might as well nap.
It's useless to rise early and go to bed late,
and work your worried fingers to the bone.
Don't you know he enjoys
giving rest to those he loves?

3-5 Don't you see that children are God's best gift?
the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?
Like a warrior's fistful of arrows
are the children of a vigorous youth.
Oh, how blessed are you parents,
with your quivers full of children!
Your enemies don't stand a chance against you;
you'll sweep them right off your doorstep.

This has been my prayer for many mornings. I can't really build the house & when I do, it doesn't turn out well!

...don't worry brother, you're not the only laborer who likes to pretend he's the architect...

We're not feeling like children are that much a gift at this point. They have been our biggest struggle and trial up to this point. It's a great reminder of God's perspective on the little ones he has given us.
Also a great reminder of His perspective on "rest." I think my attitude is often, "for God gives lots of work to do and you better get it done well if you want to be one he loves." We can work, work, work and forget that His rest is for the ones He loves. Thanks again for the reminder.
