I try. Is that so bad?

I try to convince the blind they can't see; reassure the hungry they aren't full; remind the sick they aren't healthy; warn those with money they aren't rich; notify the lame they aren't walking; inform the successful they aren't important; let the educated know their education isn't informed; advise the dead that they aren't alive.

Such are the complications of my (& yours if you follow Christ) vocation. This vocation was given to my at my baptism; yours was too. It's not a terribly popular message, but...it's part of Christmas gift.

For all the: poor, sick, blind, ignorant, dead, lame, uneducated people in the world--I have good news.

For all the rest--Your good news is at 7pm tonight; & p.s--you've always been in recession.

The greatest barrier I have met is the almost total absence from the minds of my audience of any sense of sin. The early Christian preachers could assume in their hearers a sense of guilt. Thus the Christian message was in those days unmistakably the Evangelium, the Good News. It promised healing to those who knew they were sick. We have to convince our hearers of the unwelcome diagnosis before we can expect them to welcome the news of the remedy.

 The ancient man approached God (or even the gods) as the accused person approaches his judge. For the modern man the roles are reversed. He is the judge: God is in the dock. He is quite a kindly judge: if God should have a reasonable defence for being the god who permits war, poverty and disease, he is ready to listen to it. The trial may even end in God’s acquittal. But the important thing is that Man is on the Bench and God in the Dock.

Hi Sean and all you guys;
Try to always keep in your mind that God works on His Timetable, on HIS terms.
In our mid 70 years on this Earth, Louise and I know it's best to give someting bigger than us, TO GOD. Case in point: we were in Klamath Falls for Thanksgiving. Our g'daughter has big dogs and a fenced yard. Our dog Scruffy got out under their fence and strayed away up over a hill and into wilderness. We all spent all day and well into night looking for him, and praying but no answer. We went to bed finally, still with him lost in 38 degree weather with rain in a wild land with coyotes and cougars, very very sad, broken hearted, but still knowing God could take care of it. All we HAD to do was TRUST Him and pray. Next morning, I called Redding Animal control and they had a report that Scruffy had been found by our g'daught's neighbor by his back door before the rain moved in, kept safe all night. They called Rdg A/C and then took Scruff to the Humane in Klamath. Meanwhile Rdg had me file a lost dog report and they talked to Klamath, an hour later we got a call to come pick him up. God kept Scruff safe all night IN HIS WAY. Our prayers were answered completely, in all this we came closer to God. HE IS SO GOOD!!!
You are doing all you can. Some seeds take time to sprout - all that is on God's timetable. Don't lose faith in your efforts but keep praying for innovative help. SC is probably a blueprint for hedonism; old ways die slowly. But you efforts will bear much fruit...when it's time. I know. He's answered so many of my prayers and He loves all of us so very much. Be patient, Give it to God and let go; He'll run the show just fine!!!!
Love you guys! God bless!
